The free software media system
Jellyfin is a free, open-source media server for people who want to organize and stream their own collection of movies, shows and music. It is maintained by volunteers and is often chosen as an alternative to Plex or Emby. Users run the Jellyfin server on their own computer or NAS, where it scans media folders and adds artwork and metadata. TV episodes are grouped by season, music is organized by artist and playlist, and everything can be streamed to web browsers, phones, smart TVs and other devices through Jellyfin's client apps. There are no paid tiers or required accounts, so the user keeps full control of their library.
