The terminal replacement for macOS
iTerm2 is a free, open-source terminal emulator for macOS that replaces Apple's built-in Terminal app. It is aimed at developers, system administrators and anyone who spends a lot of time on the command line. It adds features the default terminal lacks, such as split panes, a hotkey window that drops down from any app, search with highlighting, autocomplete, paste history, instant replay of past output, and shell integration that tracks commands and directories. Profiles, themes and triggers allow detailed customization, and a Python API supports scripting. iTerm2 is the successor to the original iTerm and is developed by George Nachman, with its source code on GitHub.
