Free, open-source chess for everyone
Lichess is a free, open-source chess server where anyone can play online without ads or a paid tier. It is run by a non-profit and funded by donations, and it serves casual players, club competitors and titled players alike. Users can play against a computer engine, friends or strangers at many time controls, often without even registering. Lichess also offers tournaments, puzzles, lessons, opening explorer tools, a study feature for sharing analysis, and free computer analysis that marks blunders, mistakes and inaccuracies in each game. A blog and community features cover chess news and instruction. All of its code is publicly available.
