Next-generation ORM and database tools
Prisma is a company that builds database tooling for TypeScript and Node.js developers. Its best-known product is Prisma ORM, an open source, type-safe ORM, and it also offers Prisma Postgres, a managed PostgreSQL database, and Prisma Compute, a hosting service for TypeScript apps. The pieces are designed to work together: a TypeScript app running on Node.js or Bun, including Next.js projects, can be hosted alongside its Postgres database within a single Prisma project. The ORM remains optional, so the database can be used from any standard Postgres client. Prisma also positions this combined setup as a shared context for AI coding agents that build and deploy apps.
